COAT OF ARMS OF
JORDAN

HIS GRACE DUKE MAMDOUH BISHARAT DUKE OF MUKHAIBEH OF JORDAN
Duke of Mukhaibeh - Mr. Mamdouh Bisharat - was bestowed the Duke title by late King Hussein Bin Talal in recognition of his various services to the community.
The Duke has one of the oldest properties in Down Town of Amman – Diwan – in Arabic means the section of the house whose doors are always open to guests..
By taking charge of the place the Duke wanted to set it as an example and a pioneer project to stand up to the onslaught of concrete and aluminum ' culture ' sweeping on of the oldest metropoles in history, the ancient Greco – Roman city of Philadelphia (Amman today), with the aim of keeping the city's authenticity and character alive in the collection memory of inhabitants.
The Duke's views on the subject are simple and straightforward as his words: "We cannot enjoy modernity, if we neglect our past and heritage".
On the practical level the Diwan's doors are open for talents, new and old. Guests include Royalties, intellectuals, writers, poets, historians, academic, diplomats, artists, friends of ancient Amman and almost anyone who has a taste for history and art in general and of old Amman in particular

His Majesty King Hussein bin Talal, the father of modern Jordan, will always be remembered as a leader who guided his country through strife and turmoil to become an oasis of peace, stability and moderation in the Middle East. Among Jordanians, his memory is cherished as the inspiration for Jordan's climate of openness, tolerance and compassion. Known to his people as Al-Malik Al-Insan ("The Humane King"), King Hussein established a legacy which promises to guide Jordan for many years to come.
At the time of his passing on February 7, 1999, His Majesty was the longest serving executive head of state in the world. Of great significance to Muslims throughout the world, the late King Hussein was also the forty-second generation direct descendant of the Prophet Muhammad.
He was born in Amman on November 14, 1935, to Prince Talal bin Abdullah and Princess Zein al-Sharaf bint Jamil. King Hussein is survived by two brothers, Prince Muhammad and Prince El Hassan, and one sister, Princess Basma. After completing his elementary education in Amman, His Majesty attended Victoria College in Alexandria, Egypt, and Harrow School in England.
